A Morehouse college alum and well respected in the industry, Bill Nunn is the real deal. Also, very straight and married.

But that won't stop me from saluting him in this blog. Cheers Bill.
Commentaries about life, music, and men from a very gifted Black bear. ;) Another goal of this blog is to increase the visibility of black men who happen to be both large and hairy.

Frankie Faison
This beaaauutiful man has been a favorite of mine for a long time. He has played supporting characters in films such as Meet the Browns, White Chicks, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Down to Earth. He is probably best known for his supporting work in Silence of the Lambs, in fact he was the only actor in the original film that reprised his role in all four Hannibal Lector films.
My personal favorite character he played was the foul-mouthed slumlord in Coming to America. Frankie is the epitome of a throwback bear. He has held it down for bearish men of color before it was even in vogue to be an exotic bear. Cheers to you Mr. Faison.

Stephen Fowler appears to be an early favorite. He seems to have the calm, polite demeanor of a Ruben Studdard while having major vocal chops. Looks wise, he's as handsome as they come, but ain't feelin the "processed hair" dogg, I will just keep it at that. He sort of reminds me of Carl Anthony Payne II (Cole from Martin). Now if we can get him to remember song lyrics, he could be a contender.
Another contender who caught my eye is Matt Breitzke, one of the two "blue-collar" hopefuls. He is a little bit average on the vocal end of the spectrum, but I think his personality and cute face will push him through (and the support from bear community, he will undoubtedly receive. Note to Matt: do not answer any questions about Prop 8 or any other gay civil rights issues... hehe).
